Adoption Assistance

Support and financial assistance during the adoption process.

Welcoming a child through adoption is a wonderful gift. Key knows how emotional and costly the process can be and offers financial support and access to resources to help.

Overview

For eligible employees, adoption assistance is available for the adoption of children under the age of 18 who are not the biological or stepchildren of the adoptive parents, as well as for the adoption of individuals of any age who are physically or mentally unable to care for themselves. If both adoptive parents are Key employees, only one employee may apply for and use the assistance.

Adoption assistance includes $14,400 in financial assistance (maximum once per calendar year), which can be used for court document fees, licensed adoption agency and placement fees, medical expenses for the child, travel expenses, immigration fees and other eligible expenses.

Eligible employees may also take up to 80 hours of paid time for adoption-related needs (this is in addition to Key’s parental leave, which offers up to 10 weeks of time off for new parents).
